Mortal Being

uh oh it’s changing again

the stars place the rising sea

the way you feel about me

it’s okay I’m guilty of it too

putting me in front of you

turning to love again and again

instead of sitting with the blue

it’s vastness covering all that’s true

the miles deep longing abyss

all of her creatures briefly imagined futures

dead on the sea floor

gobbled by less mortal beings

and it begins again
