Pleasantville (1998)
A simply pleasant watch, I love movies that remind me of the great beautiful truths of life. Unfortunately, like its quaint narrative device, it is lacking much depth and forgets to include many narratives. The use of coloured people is so on the nose and yet it prompted no dialogue of POC experience. Watching from a 2025 lens, a 1998 film observing 1950s monoculture, there are bound to be flaws. Don’t worry darling attempts a similar commentary and falls similarly flat. It did make me smile and appreciate the beauty of life though. A beautiful shot film of beautiful people. 3/5
